Launch Operations
Launch Coordinator – Doug Loughmiller, W5BL
Responsible for coordinating all preparations and launch day activities. Supports other team members in their launch preparations. Monitors flight conditions and forecasts in the days leading up to launch. The final decision maker for flight activities on the day of the launch.
Fill Team Coordinator – Phil St. George, KE5DYM
Responsible for the preparation and deployment of lift mechanism. Responsible for sourcing consumables in preparation for flight. Works along side Launch and payload coordinators to assure for a timely and effective launch.
Payload Coordinator – Fred Siebenthall
Responsible for final preparation and testing of mission payloads. Supports all payload operators in the final preparation process. Provides the Launch Coordinator with ‘go – no-go’ decision on payloads at time of launch preparation
Flight Operations / Mission Control
HF Net Control – TBD – (Keith Pugh, W5IU available to mentor)
Responsible for facilitating all launch, flight and recovery communications between ARBONET volunteers and ground observers in the coverage area.
Ground Station – Data Collection Operator – David Keene, W5DBK
Responsible for monitoring all payloads during the flight and for collecting and archiving data from all of the experiments and payloads.
FAA Liaison- Michael Willett, K5NOT
Responsible for providing flight status and tracking information to FAA ATC during the flight.
Recovery Operations
Recovery Coordinator – Doug Loughmiller, W5BL
Responsible for coordinating and directing mission assets during the recovery phase of the mission. Leads ground based chase team.
Chase Plane Coordinator – Tommy Trissell, KC5ILO
Responsible for the safe operation of the airborne segment of the chase team. Coordinates flight schedule to intercept package during decent. Provide ground based chase team members with information and resources in the recovery of flight assets.
Chase Plane APRS Operator – Dale Loughmiller, KB5TZN
Responsible for airborne data collection and real time information dissemination to both airborne and ground based chase team members. Works closely with chase pilot in locating flight assets from the air.
Support Operations
PR Coordinator – Shirley Smith, K5SJS
Responsible for disseminating information to the amateur radio community and the general public in advance of launch day.
Youth Activities Coordinator – Louise Rau K5RAU
Coordinates any planned youth activities on the day of the launch.
